Iñaki Williams, the forward playing for Spanish club Athletic Bilbao, has strongly criticized the holding of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Idman.Biz reports that the footballer said he considers this decision unfair to the fans.
"The Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia? For me, this is very bad. Moving a national tournament to another country makes it difficult for fans to go to and watch the games," said the forward.
According to Williams, the main purpose of national competitions is to be accessible to local fans, and such commercially oriented decisions are contrary to the social nature of football.
