"The result disappointed us a lot. We had a strong opponent in front of us and we couldn't show the game we wanted."
Idman.biz reports that these words were said by Imran Fetai, a football player of the North Macedonian "Shkendija" team, which stopped the fight by losing to "Qarabag" with a score of 1:6 based on the results of two games in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, in his statement to AZERTAC.
According to him, a number of mistakes in defense in the second match held in Baku (5:1) caused the Azerbaijani champion to easily create scoring opportunities: "Pressure was felt from the beginning of the match. "Qarabag" was building very fast and technical attacks, it was difficult to stop them. We could not take control of the game in the first half, and this affected the fate of the match. We could not be as effective as we wanted in the attack line, and we could not evaluate our chances. In some moments, we played uncoordinated as a team. We had to play more aggressively and carefully on the field. Our fans expected a better result from us, but it didn't work out this time."
The defender stated that the match was a good experience for both himself and his team: "We will learn from our mistakes. We will try not to repeat these mistakes in the next matches. I hope that both my game and the team's performance will be better in future matches."
It should be noted that "Qarabag" will face the Hungarian team "Ferencvaros" in the play-off stage.
