Iceland national team midfielder Gísli Thordarson shared his thoughts on the opening match against Azerbaijan in Group D of the D-2026 qualifying round in Reykjavik (September 5). Sport24.az reports with reference to the "433.is" portal that the member of "Lex" (Poznan) said the following about our national team:
"The Azerbaijan national team is a good team. There are several players from "Qarabag", who recently qualified for the main stage of the Champions League. Almost all national teams have quality players. But at the same time, this is, in our opinion, a match where it is quite possible to win. We are completely honest with ourselves. We have to win this match, get off to a good start and go to France with a positive result".
It should be noted that the Iceland-Azerbaijan match will be held on September 5 and the game will start at 23:00 Baku time.
