Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike will miss the 2026 World Cup due to a serious injury. Sport24.az reports that the Le Parisien newspaper reported this.
The French striker ruptured his Achilles tendon in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final match against PSG (0-2).
On Wednesday, Ekitike will undergo a thorough examination to determine whether his right Achilles tendon is partially or completely ruptured. In either case, the injury requires surgery and extensive rehabilitation.
It should be noted that Ekitike has played 45 games for Liverpool this season and scored 17 goals. He has scored twice in eight matches for the French national team.
