The Iraqi authorities have declared April 1st and 2nd as official holidays to celebrate the national team's qualification for the final stage of the DÇ-2026. The relevant decree was signed by Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani. INA agency reports about it, Sport24.az reports.
Iraq became the last team to qualify for the World Cup, defeating Bolivia 2:1 in the play-off stage.
It should be noted that the Asian representative is in Group I together with France, Senegal and Norway. This is the second appearance of the Iraqi national team at the World Cup. The Iraqis first participated in the World Cup in 1986.
The World Cup will be held in the USA, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19. For the first time, 48 teams will compete in the final tournament.
