"If the war ends soon, I will continue my career in Iran." Sport24.az reports that this was said by Hojjat Haghverdi, an Iranian football player of the Azerbaijani national team, in his statement to Telegraf.
The 32-year-old defender, who recently left "Neftchi," said that the start of the war with Israel delayed his transfer: "I am not in Iran myself. I am still waiting to see what will happen. I was planning to sign a contract in Iran, but now everything has changed. Maybe it will be somewhere else."
Haghverdi said that none of his relatives were harmed in the war: "I have many relatives in Iran. Thank God, they are all in a safe environment. My brother is also in Iran, and he is also not in danger. Combat zones are mainly near military units. Therefore, people are also in a safe environment."
The experienced player also added that he did not want to talk about the war.
