The Ghana Football Association is interested in inviting French coach Herve Renard to the position of head coach of the national team. Sport24.az reports that this was reported by the publication "L'Équipe".
The 57-year-old specialist is currently leading the Saudi Arabian national team. The Frenchman, whose team lost the last two matches to Egypt (0-4) and Serbia (1-2), is considering leaving Saudi Arabia on the eve of the WC-2026. In his opinion, they will not be able to achieve positive results in the upcoming World Cup in the current circumstances.
The Ghana Football Association has contacted his agent to determine the French coach's position on the matter. Official negotiations with the coach have not yet begun and are awaiting confirmation from Saudi Arabia.
It should be noted that the Ghana Football Association dismissed the national team's head coach Otto Addo a few days ago. Under his leadership, Ghana qualified for the WC-2026, but lost the last four friendly matches: to Japan (0-2), South Korea (0-1), Austria (1-5) and Germany (1-2).
Ghana is in Group L with England, Croatia and Panama in the World Cup.
