The Azerbaijan U-17 women's team, preparing for the qualifying round of the European Championship, is facing tough matches.
This was stated to "Report" by the team's head coach Nargiz Gurbanova.
The specialist said that only Azerbaijani football players were invited to the staff:
"We have already started training camp for 3 days. Training continues. There are some problems with the squad. Some of our players were injured in the previous European Championship. Their treatment is still ongoing. For this reason, there are certain shortcomings. Nevertheless, we will try to do our best. We are already inviting only Azerbaijani players to the squad. The positive thing is that if they show themselves well, they will be easily called up to the main national team."
She said that the most difficult match will be against Wales:
"We know that we are waiting for difficult games. We must take the matches with Moldova, Kosovo and Wales seriously. But I think that the first game with Wales is very important. Our 2010-born football players are inexperienced. Wales will give more preference to 2009-born football players. We take this into account. I think that our most difficult match will be against Wales."
N. Gurbanova also evaluated other opponents:
"Kosovo and Moldova are almost the same level opponents. We won against Moldova last year. This time they will give preference to 2010-born football players. We have not been able to fully analyze their games. However, looking at their previous squads, we think that we have a better chance of winning. We watched Kosovo's last game. They lost to Germany 0:9. We think that we have a chance to score points. We will try to collect maximum points from matches with both Kosovo and Moldova. Moldova is the host, but I hope everything will be fine."
It should be noted that our U-17 national team, which is in Group I of League B, will compete with the national teams of Wales, Kosovo and Moldova. All matches of the tournament will be held in Moldova on October 24-30.
