"The Azerbaijani national team is facing matches against Iceland and France. I wish the national team success in this match. Of course, it will be difficult. But everything is possible. After Aykhan Abbasov's arrival, the national team played two good-level games. They defended well. In my opinion, it is possible to achieve results in the upcoming matches as well."
This was stated by Gyoko Hadzievski, the former head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, in his statement to sportal.az.
The experienced coach, who once led our national team, also spoke about the problems of our football. Hadzievski, who currently coaches "Spartak" (Varna), one of the representatives of the Bulgarian top league, emphasized the small number of Azerbaijanis living the life of legionnaires:
"The issue is not about losing in some games. The number of Azerbaijani football players living the life of legionnaires is very small. This directly affects the national team. If Azerbaijanis played in the Italian, Spanish, German championships, it would also affect the national team. How to make the number of Azerbaijanis playing abroad increase? Look, that's what needs to be worked on. Azerbaijani football needs systematic, planned progress, a strategy. I wish the best results for Azerbaijani football."
