Qurban Gurbanov, the head coach of "Qarabag", gave an interview to "Euronews". Sport24.az reports that the experienced specialist emphasized in his statement that Azerbaijan is a sports country, with a large number of Olympic and world champions:
"We have many champion athletes. Whether it's wrestling or judo. We also have Olympic and world champions. In general, Azerbaijan is a sports country."
Gurbanov talked about the successes and goals of his team: "There are no weak teams in the Champions League. I can't help but be happy to beat such teams and be at the forefront. Almost the whole world has started to be interested in us. Football has reached a level that is not easy to achieve.
I always tell the players that in order to achieve more successful results and grow, we must play confidently and courageously against any team. I may not be able to express my emotions in words. Because scoring three goals after conceding two against a team like Benfica is a great achievement. Because Benfica could have scored a third or fourth goal at any moment. Because of such victories, the players are extremely happy. Before the game, perhaps there would be few people who would think not only about our victory, but even about our draw. Our victory was talked about in all European countries. This created additional confidence in our team. Participating in this kind of tournament causes more interest in us. Our re-appearance in the Champions League seriously declared the history of the name Qarabag."
Gurban Gurbanov noted that they will try to achieve better results:
"The goal we have always set for ourselves has been to work as hard as possible and move forward. Gradually, attention to both "Qarabag" and Azerbaijani football is increasing. In this case, I inevitably increase my hope that we will further develop the club and achieve successful results."
