"We have wanted to make such a trip for a long time. We didn't have the chance to come with the team. Today we were lucky." Sportal.az reports that this was said by the head coach of "Qarabağ" Gurban Gurbanov.
The experienced specialist answered journalists' questions during his visit to Karabakh with the team. He stated that they took the opportunity to visit Fizuli, Shusha, Khankendi and Agdam: "It's very pleasant. We were in places we had heard about but not seen. We saw how much damage the enemy had done here, how much destruction they had caused. I came here about 1.5 years ago. There are big changes and innovations in a short time. I thank everyone who has worked here, especially Mr. President. Everyone is working very hard, restoration work is underway. Believe me, I loved Karabakh without seeing it before, now I love it even more after seeing it."
According to Gurbanov, some legionnaires are in Karabakh for the first time: "When some of our football players were here before, I couldn't come due to valid reasons. It was during the pandemic. We will share our general impressions when we go to Baku. But before the legionnaires came, it was said that there have been many changes, you won't believe what you see. That's what happened. They were all wondering how it was then and how it is now. They came and saw the "Imaret" stadium. When they came at that time, they even played a little football on the site of the stadium. But now it was the opposite, we saw the new arena to be built. That was also very pleasant. We saw Mr. President laying the foundation of the stadium on television. Now we saw it up close. The legionnaires also know that they have a duty to come here from time to time. We also want to be with the people living here. Because we can't provide support in any other way. Maybe it's not so fun for them to live here right now. But we came to them with our football players, we brought the cup. I think it was even more interesting for people. We would like to support them often. But they should excuse us for our work. Our games in the European Cups will start soon and we will switch to a very serious work regime. We felt the support of these people from afar, now we saw how many fans we saw live. They also know the statistics very well. They also asked interesting questions about our games. We also play football for the fans. We will try to achieve even better results in the coming period. Our responsibility is also gradually increasing."
