"Qarabag's" qualification for the UEFA Champions League play-off stage is a great achievement for Azerbaijani football." Sport24.az reports that the head coach of "Qarabag" Gurban Gurbanov said this at the welcoming ceremony in Baku.
The expert shared his thoughts on the team's qualification for the UEFA Champions League play-off:
"We are very happy. As a club, we have suffered for these years. We became the 22nd team in the tournament. This is a great achievement for Azerbaijani football. I congratulate our people and football players."
Gurbanov also evaluated the potential opponents in the play-off: "There are teams at such a level that it is impossible to separate them from each other. We will try to fight to the maximum."
The head coach of the history-making team did not forget to appeal to the fans:
"I thank them. They give us extra motivation. This success is their right. They have shown once again that they are with us."
It should be noted that "Qarabag", which finished the League stage of the UEFA Champions League in 22nd place with 10 points, will face England's "Newcastle" or France's PSG club in the play-off. The draw for this round will take place on January 30.
