The head coach of "Qarabag", Gurban Gurbanov, will not criticize the players for the mistakes made in the match with "Shelbourne".
"Report" informs that the head coach of "Qarabag" Gurban Gurbanov said this at a press conference after the return match against "Shelbourne" (Ireland) in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.
The experienced specialist said that they are happy to advance to the next stage:
"I congratulate my players on the victory. I cannot criticize them for their mistakes. Because we have to eliminate some shortcomings. The opponent is a serious team, they don't like to lose. We are happy for the victory. The newly recruited players are slowly adapting to the team."
He spoke about Kadi Borges' penalty kick that he could not take advantage of in the 68th minute of the match:
"I don't think there is anything here that could strongly criticize the player. Maybe it could have looked easy from the outside. But such situations happen in football matches. In any case, he would have wanted to score."
Q. Gurbanov emphasized that they want to attract a new striker to the team:
"I talk about this every time. I trust the players in the team. Each of them is valuable to us. But new players will be needed. Because we have secured the group stage in the UEFA Conference League at a minimum. At least in terms of increasing the number of players, we will strengthen our team."
The head coach recalled that it is gratifying to qualify for the group stage of European Cups for the 12th time in a row:
"If we can attract the Azerbaijani people to the stadium with our games at least until winter, this is a lot. In this case, parents start enrolling their children in football more often. Football in our country is on the path of development."
It should be noted that the match "Qarabag" - "Shelbourne" held at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium ended with a 1:0 victory for the home team. "Qarabag" will face the winner of the "Shkendija" (North Macedonia) - FCSB (Romania) pair in the third qualifying round.
