The goalkeeper, who dropped the ball after a corner kick, conceded the second goal. After this mistake, the fans in the stands sharply whistled at the experienced goalkeeper and expressed their protests.
Unable to control his emotions after the final whistle, Günay cried inconsolably in the center of the field. Although his teammates and technical staff tried to comfort him, the footballer's sadness did not escape the cameras.
However, after the game, Galatasaray fans replaced their anger towards the goalkeeper with support. They appealed to Barış Alper Yılmaz for Günay, who was heading to the dressing room, to return. The 34-year-old goalkeeper, who returned to the field again with the accompaniment of his teammate, was greeted with applause. The fans chanted "This fan is proud of you" and gave Günay Güvenç moral support.
