Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola has stated that this international break has no meaning.

According to Guardiola, such breaks are not justified when the club season enters a crucial stage.
"For almost nine months you play every three days for all the titles, and then it's not right to bring players from different continents to play friendly matches. When there is a qualifying round, you can understand it, but friendly matches? The risk of injury is too great and it really makes no sense," said X. Guardiola.
