Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann may complete a transfer to American club Orlando City in the coming days.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, negotiations have progressed to an advanced stage after Orlando City sporting director Ricardo Moreira's arrival in Madrid. The transfer is expected to be completed soon.
It is not yet known when Griezmann will join his new team. Orlando City wants to transfer the striker before the MLS transfer window closes on March 26, while the 34-year-old Frenchman wants to finish this season at Atletico.
Griezmann has been playing for Atletico since 2021, and previously played for the "mattress makers" from 2014 to 2019. He has played a total of 480 matches for the Madrid club, scored 210 goals and provided 95 assists, and is the club's all-time top scorer.
Griezmann has played 35 matches for Atletico this season, scored 12 goals and provided two assists. His contract runs until the summer of 2027.
Atletico are fourth in the Spanish league table, 13 points behind leaders Barcelona. Today, the "mattress makers" will host Brugge in the second leg of the Champions League play-off stage (the first leg ended in a 3-3 draw).
