After Italy's defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina (1-1, 1-4) in the play-off match for the 2026 World Cup, Gabriele Gravina of the Italian Football Federation spoke about the future of Gennaro Gattuso, the current head coach of the "Squadra Azzurra." Sport24.az reports that he made a statement on the federation's official website:
"I asked Gennaro Gattuso not to leave his post and to continue working with the team."
It should be noted that for the first time in their history, the Italians will miss three consecutive World Cups. The Italians last played in the World Cup in 2014.
