The Italian Football Federation has identified a new favorite for the vacant national team head coach position.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, Gennaro Gattuso is considered the main candidate.
It is reported that initial contacts have already been made between the parties. Gattuso's candidacy became relevant after Claudio Ranieri and Stefano Pioli refused this position. Currently, his main rivals are his former partners Fabio Cannavaro and Daniele De Rossi.
Last week, Gattuso ended his collaboration with Croatian club Hajduk. Previously, he coached teams such as France's Marseille, Spain's Valencia, as well as Napoli, Milan, Pisa and other Italian clubs.
During his football career, he played 73 matches for the Italian national team, scoring 1 goal.
