As reported, Italian Fabio Cannavaro has been appointed head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, which will participate in the 2026 World Cup.
İdman.biz reports that Cannavaro's compatriot, Italy national team coach Gennaro Gattuso, reacted interestingly to this appointment.
"I called him and said, what are you doing? You've perfumed yourself, dressed up, and you're already going to the World Cup. And I'm here, fighting in the trenches," Gattuso said.
The Italian national team has collected 9 points after 4 matches in Group I of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and is in second place.
Italy last qualified for the World Cup in 2014.
