Former footballer Gareth Bale stated that he was always afraid of going bankrupt, so he consciously tried not to lead a luxurious lifestyle and focused on what would happen after his football career ended.
Idman.Biz reports that the 36-year-old Welshman played for Real Madrid, Tottenham, Southampton and Los Angeles clubs.
"There was always one thing that scared me. You read articles about how people go bankrupt when they leave professional sports. They don't know how to manage their money, how to live their lives. They don't know how to live their lives.
I think a lot of athletes live a luxurious lifestyle. I try not to do that. I was always thinking about what my life would be like after football. I won't get paid when my career is over. How do people rebuild their lives then?
That's why I've been trying to diversify my income from the beginning. I always had the idea to invest my money in different things. If one pillar is cut and broken, the whole building will not collapse," said Bale.
