Fuzuli Mammadov: Referees' mistakes can relegate us from the Premier League

"Karvan-Yevlakh" lost to "Zira" 0:1 in the 20th round of the Misli Premier League. Sport24.az reports that the head coach of the guests, Fuzuli Mammadov, answered journalists' questions at the press conference held after the match:

- It was a very interesting game. There was a fight on the field. Both teams played well. We know that "Zira" is a good team, but we also played well today. We let the opponent through in a standard situation and saw a goal in our goal. We wanted to equalize the score. During the game, we changed the system, increased the number of attackers. Unfortunately, we couldn't score. I congratulate the opponent, we will prepare for the next match.

- Gavi Thompson protested the decision when he left the field...

- Every football player gets stressed when the game doesn't work out. This is normal. Gavi is an experienced player. He understood after calming down. We changed Gavi to add an offensive player there.

- How many times have you made a substitution in the first half? What is this related to?

- In the match with "Sumgayit", Rauf's game was not bad. There were problems in defense, we had to replace him. Today, too, we were behind in the score. Gavi is a midfielder, and Kings is an offensive player. We make changes not because of the weak performance of the players, but to be effective in attack. These are tactical moves.

- There was a potential penalty episode in the first half. Did you watch the replay?

- I watched. Those sitting in VAR are also watching. There was an elbow, but I don't know how they evaluate it. The judges are more knowledgeable than us. There was an elbow in that episode. But there is a difference. There was an elbow strike against our defender.

- In the last game, your opponent was not given a clear red card. Are the judges treating you unseriously because you are in the last place?

- It has a great effect. We suffer a lot. The players also suffer. We go to every game to win. Such episodes crush us. Referees should be as careful as possible in our games. Any mistake can relegate us from the Premier League. My wish is that the referees should be very careful in our matches.
