The French Professional Football League (LFP) has decided to permanently discontinue the initiative to have rainbow elements, a symbol of the annual LGBT promotion, placed on football jerseys.
İdman.Biz reports, citing "L'Equipe", that this decision is due to growing discontent and mass boycotts among players in recent years. Many players, citing their religious and personal beliefs, refused to take the field in jerseys bearing these symbols. This led to certain scandals during the championship and tension within clubs.
The LFP leadership, noting that the campaign overshadowed football itself and hindered sports principles, announced that campaigns in this format would no longer be held.
It should be noted that the campaign in question is held every year in May and promotes same-sex marriage. The armband in question is considered the main symbol of LGBT promotion.
