French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari answered journalists' questions about a possible boycott of the 2026 World Cup. Sport24.az reports that the state official made a statement to RMC Sport:
"At this stage of our discussions, our ministry does not intend to boycott this major competition. But I am not making any predictions about what might happen. I have also heard opinions from certain political blocs (about the boycott). I insist that we separate sports and competitions from politics".
It should be noted that, according to recent media reports, European football leaders have discussed the issue of a possible boycott at the highest level of the World Cup, which will be hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States this summer, due to the geopolitical situation related to Greenland.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump openly expressed his desire to buy or annex the island belonging to Denmark.
