"Emotions prevail in the actions of Azerbaijanis. If they are given the opportunity to control the ball, then we will have problems." These words were said by Vasili Kardash, a former football player of the Ukrainian national team.
The 52-year-old former defender shared his thoughts on the Azerbaijan-Ukraine match, which will be held today in the qualifying round of DC-2026:
"Local fans will urge their team forward. Therefore, first of all, we must take the lead and do everything faster than the opponent."
Vasili Kardash did not express good opinions about the Azerbaijani national team:
"The match in Iceland showed that the opponent does not know how to deal with the blow. They collapsed when they conceded the first goal. Our people should take this into account. I consider Ukraine the favorite in this game. I don't think that the dismissal of head coach Fernando Santos in the Azerbaijani national team will affect the home team. The level of preparation of our players is high. There will be no force majeure in Baku."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan-Ukraine match to be played today will start at 20:00.
