An interview with AZERTAC by Croatian goalkeeper Vjekoslav Tomic, who played for "Hayduk" (Croatia) in 2007-2010 and also wore the uniform of "Khazar Lankaran" in our country.
- Your former team "Hayduk" will face the Azerbaijani representative "Zira" in the Conference League. How do you assess the chances in this game?
- "Zira" faced another Croatian representative, "Osijek", in the Conference League last year. The opponent played confidently in the penalty shootout and qualified for the next round. I think "Hayduk" is stronger than "Osijek". If we assess the chances, our representative is in the lead. "Zira"'s opportunities are not that high.
- You were born in Split, the city represented by "Hayduk". Have you been asked for information about Azerbaijani football and "Zira"?
- No one from "Hayduk" club asked me for information about "Zira". They have a very good scouting team. They handle it themselves. I also don't have enough information about the Azerbaijani representative.
- What can you say about the current situation of the opposing team?
- "Hayduk" has attracted new players to its squad this summer. The head coach is also new. There are certain changes. They have a great chance to defeat "Zira" and advance to the next stage. One of the strengths of the Split club is the defense line. They play reliably in that zone. Also, there is an experienced and important player in the squad like Marko Livaya. He can play anywhere on the field. He will make a difference in both matches.
- You once played for "Khazar Lankaran" in Azerbaijan. What are your impressions of our country?
- Your country was great. It is still like that now. Baku is a beautiful city. There are good stadiums here. Your football has developed in recent years. "Garabagh" team successfully performs in European cups and manages to qualify for the group stage every year.
- It is interesting, which of the Azerbaijani clubs would you like to work for?
- I would like to try myself as a coach in Azerbaijan and Turkey. Both countries are dear to me.
