Footballer penalized by AFFA says: "I didn't beat the opponent, nor did I strike him"

"The opponent disrespected us repeatedly."

He spoke about the scandal that occurred in the match against "Dinamo" in the XXV round of the II League of the Azerbaijan Championship. Agayev stated that there were a number of problems in the match: "We have faced "Dinamo" three times before. We won all three times. We have never disrespected the opponent in any of these meetings. But yesterday they disrespected us both on and off the field. First, they kicked the door of the dressing room, and then the opponent's number 7 player committed provocative actions against my teammate. As for the red card, at that time I was preparing to put the ball into play from a free kick, but the opponent did not allow it. Because we were behind in the score, our nerves were very tense, I didn't even know what happened, but that incident happened."

The 34-year-old defender was suspended for 4 games by the AFFA Disciplinary Committee for aggressive behavior (hitting the opponent) for receiving a direct red card. According to him, he did not expect such a severe punishment: "The management will decide on the appeal. I didn't beat or hit the opponent there. We just scuffled, that's all."

It should be noted that the "Aghdash" club was also fined 300 manats by the AFFA Disciplinary Committee for Agayev's aggressive behavior.
