Brazilian club "Fluminense" has extended the contract of 45-year-old goalkeeper Fabio until December 2027.
Idman.Biz reports that the club's press service has released a statement about this.
It is reported that Fabio holds the record for the number of official matches in the history of professional football, and next season will be his fifth season with "Fluminense".
It is noted that in August 2025, Fabio set a world record by playing his 1391st match at the professional level. With this indicator, he surpassed former England national team goalkeeper Peter Shilton, who played between 1966 and 1997.
Fabio won the Copa America with the Brazilian national team in 2004. In 2023, he won the Copa Libertadores with "Fluminense".
