Barcelona's head coach, Hans-Dieter Flick, drew attention with his post-match statements after their 5-2 crushing victory over Sevilla in the 28th round of the Spanish La Liga. Despite the big win, the German expert highlighted some shortcomings in his team's performance.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to the "Marca" publication that Flick was particularly dissatisfied with the pressing and the speed of the ball movement.
"We could have pressed better when we lost the ball. The Champions League is coming up, and it is important to perform well there. Dani Olmo, Espart, Cancelo played great games, but I think we could have played much better than this. We were moving the ball a little slow. Sometimes there was a lack of self-confidence. Gavi's return is great news," said the head coach.
The experienced coach also specifically noted Joao Cancelo's performance:
"Cancelo needed some time to adapt. He has been magnificent in the last few games. He is an incredible player technically. His goal, his action that resulted in a penalty, and his play in the offside trap... Cancelo was the right choice."
Currently, Barcelona is the sole leader of the standings with 70 points after 28 games, four points ahead of their closest follower, Real (Madrid).
It should be noted that in the next round, Barcelona will host Rayo Vallecano on March 22 at their home stadium.
