Brazilian football club "Flamengo" has officially won the national championship with one round to spare.
Idman.Biz reports that the Rio team defeated "Ceara" 1:0 at the Maracana, bringing their score to 78 points and increasing the difference with "Palmeiras" to 5. This difference is now unattainable for the opponent before the last round.
Samuel Lino's goal, assisted by Carrascal, doubled the excitement for Flamengo, both for the Brazilian League and the Libertadores Cup won just four days earlier. The club played in front of a record crowd of 73,244 fans this season.
This title formalizes Flamengo's most successful season in history. The team has won four titles in the 2024–2025 season: the Libertadores Cup, the Brazilian League, the Campeonato Carioca, and the Supercopa do Brasil, repeating their quadruple success in 2019.
Despite fatigue, head coach Filipe Luis fielded the same squad that played in the final against Palmeiras. The goal was to secure the title today and start preparing the main squad in time for the Intercontinental Cup in Qatar.
Although Flamengo completely controlled the game in the first half, it was difficult to break through Ceara's defense. However, in the 36th minute, Samuel Lino changed the score on the board and formalized the team's championship.
