The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) will allow broadcasters to switch to commercials during the water breaks that will occur in each half of the 2026 World Cup matches.
İdman.biz reports this with reference to "The Athletic".
It is noted that a similar practice already exists in the USA during timeouts or breaks in basketball and American football.
In December, the introduction of a three-minute water break in the middle of each 45-minute half at the World Cup was announced. It was emphasized that this measure is being implemented for the well-being of the players and will be applied regardless of weather conditions.
The 2026 World Cup will begin on June 11.
