FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom, the head of world football, answered questions about the security of the 2026 World Cup against the backdrop of the tense military situation in the region.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to ESPN that the Secretary General stated that they are closely following the development of events. Grafstrom noted that the main goal now is to ensure the safe holding of the tournament with the participation of all teams.
"I have read the news about Iran like you. Our meeting was held and although it is too early to comment in detail, we will follow all the processes in the world. The final stage draw ceremony with the participation of all teams was held in Washington. Now our main task is to ensure the security of the World Championship. In any case, we will continue to be in constant contact with the governments of the three host countries," the FIFA official emphasized.
It should be reminded that the 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
