The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has punished seven players of the Malaysian national team for 12 months due to forged documents.
Idman.biz reports with reference to foreign media that Facundo Garces, the defender of "Alaves" club playing in the Spanish La Liga, is among those penalized.
Other players who have been sanctioned are Gabriel Felipi, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, Joau Figuereido, Yon Irasabal and Hector Alexandro Jovel Serrano. It is reported that most of them are of Argentine, Spanish, Brazilian and Dutch origin.
According to FIFA's statement, the Malaysian Football Association submitted forged documents to allow the mentioned players to compete. The players participated in the match against Vietnam (4:0) in the third round of the Asian Cup qualifying stage.
According to the decision, each player is prohibited from participating in all football-related activities and fined approximately 2,100 euros (approximately 4,170 AZN). The Malaysian Football Association will have to pay 374,000 euros (approximately 742,577 AZN).
