FIFA President Gianni Infantino shared on his Instagram account that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will jointly host the final stage of the 2027 World Cup among national teams of football players under 20 years old. Sport24.az reports that for the first time in football history, the men's World Cup will be held in Azerbaijan.
Also, for the first time, the Azerbaijani men's national team will participate in the final stage of the World Cup.
"I am pleased to announce that the FIFA Council has selected Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to host the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup, a historic tournament that will connect Europe and Asia and showcase the brightest young talent in our sport.
I congratulate both countries and look forward to the fantastic 25th edition of this tournament in 2027 and the first tournament to be co-hosted by two FIFA member associations," - Gianni Infantino said in his post.
