FIFA President Gianni Infantino has stated that the World Cup is the organization's sole source of revenue. Sport24.az reports that the head of the supreme football body spoke about this at the Semafor conference.
Infantino responded to criticism regarding the high ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup:
"For FIFA, the main and currently the only revenue-generating event is the World Cup. The World Cup is held every four years. We earn money in one month and then spend that money in the remaining 47 months until the next World Cup.
Of course, we earn billions of dollars thanks to the World Cup, but many do not know that FIFA is a non-profit organization. The funds we earn are invested in football in 211 countries around the world."
It should be noted that the 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19.
