FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström answered a question about security at the 2026 World Cup against the backdrop of the tense military situation in the region. Sport24.az reports that the official made a statement to ESPN about this:
"I read the news about Iran this morning. We had our meeting today and it is too early to comment in detail, but we will follow events regarding all issues around the world. The final match draw was held in Washington with the participation of all teams. Our main focus now is to organise a safe and secure World Cup for all teams. As always, we will continue to liaise with all three host countries.".
It should be noted that the 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July.
