FIFA has reduced the operational budget for this summer's World Cup by more than $100 million. Security, logistics, and transportation costs have been reduced. According to Sport24.az, the information was released by the press service of the supreme football body.
"FIFA is constantly reviewing budget efficiency to allocate as much funding as possible to the development of football. This should not surprise anyone, as such checks are common before all tournaments. We will never compromise on security."
The press also notes that although the US government has allocated $625 million to ensure security at the stadiums where the World Cup will be held, the funds have not yet reached their intended destinations.
It is noted that approximately 5,000 employees will ensure order at the prestigious tournament.
