FIFA has announced the prize money for the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that the total prize pool for the World Cup will be 727 million US dollars.
Of this amount, 655 million dollars will be distributed among the 48 national teams participating in the championship. This is approximately 50 percent more than the previous tournament.
The champion of the championship will receive 50 million dollars, the runner-up 33 million, the third-place winner 29 million, and the fourth-place team 27 million dollars. For 5th-8th places 19 million, for 9th-16th places 15 million, for 17th-32nd places 11 million, and for 33rd-48th places 9 million dollars will be awarded.
In addition, 1.5 million dollars will be allocated to each team that qualifies for the tournament to cover preparation costs. Thus, all participants of the 2026 World Cup will be paid at least 10.5 million dollars.
The World Championship will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026 in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
It should be reminded that Argentina won 42 million dollars for winning the 2022 World Championship in Qatar, and the French national team earned 38 million dollars after becoming champion in the tournament in Russia.
