Laporta's words criticizing the organizers of the tournament for not inviting the latest La Liga champion to the Club World Cup caused dissatisfaction among FIFA officials. They believe that the head of the Catalan club targeted the organization with his statements.
The UEFA leadership did not approve of Laporta's idea of holding La Liga games outside of Spain. In addition, the issue of the possible creation of the Super League is also increasing tension between the parties.
