He commented on the appointment of his compatriot Sasa Ilic as head coach of Sumgayit. According to Boyan, Sasa Ilic can be successful in Azerbaijan: "Of course, Sasa is a promising coach. He was a smart football player. He is like that as a coach now. He has done a good job in the teams he has coached. This in itself says a lot."
Boyan said that his compatriot did not talk to him about Azerbaijani football: "Honestly, it is felt from the outside that there is a little excitement. They expect incredible results from him. Sasa has not spoken to me yet. As for whether there will be Serbian football players in Sumgayit or not, time will tell. It may or may not be. In any case, they will choose the best ones. In my opinion, Riad Rafiyev made the right choice by bringing Sasa Ilic."
