The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) is ready to hold the 2030 World Cup with 64 teams.
Idman.biz reports that the "Ole" publication has released information about this.
It is reported that the organization supported the proposal of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) to increase the number of participants in the World Cup to a record level.
In the new format, the tournament will consist of 16 groups, with 4 teams in each group. The two strongest teams in the group will advance to the play-off stage.
The games will be held in Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Three groups of the World Cup will be held entirely in South America, and the rest in Europe and Africa.
Let us remind you that FIFA has already increased the number of participants in the World Cup from 32 to 48. For the first time in history, 48 national teams will participate in the 2026 World Cup.
