According to the "Report" correspondent in Reykjavik, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national football team, Fernandu Santos, said this at a press conference.
The specialist shared his thoughts on the World Cup 2026 qualifying match against the Icelandic national team:
"We defended well in the first half. We wanted to play from defense and rely on counter-attacks. At the end of the first half, we conceded a goal from a corner kick. During the break, I told them to calm down. Unfortunately, after conceding the second goal, the team completely lost itself. My contract with the Azerbaijani national team is still valid. Why should I resign? If AFFA wants to send me to resign, we can talk about it."
