Fernandu Santos, who was dismissed from the position of head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, has released a farewell message.

The 71-year-old specialist says in his appeal: "I cannot help but express my gratitude to the president of the Federation (AFFA President Rovshan Najaf - ed.) for his respect and personal attention. Also, I thank the people of Azerbaijan for their hospitality and respect shown during this period. In June 2024, the goal set before me by the federation was related to the technical and infrastructural restructuring of the country's football base, including the competition structure and training process, in order to prepare a competitive team for the EURO-2028 qualifying round. In September 2024, I presented a complex plan, similar to the projects in other federations I have worked in, with the necessary corrections made. I hope that this project will be useful to AFFA and will serve as an incentive for investing in the education and development of football talents, which will allow to achieve good results in the future.

It should be noted that Fernandu Santos was dismissed by mutual agreement with the AFFA management.
