Former assistant to Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, Rene Meulensteen, spoke about the possibility of head coach Ruben Amorim being replaced after the team's poor results at the start of the season. He made a statement to the Metro portal:
"I think if Amorim continues to be stubborn until the end and the results don't improve, he doesn't start winning, then the club will have no other choice... Who could replace him? Clearly, it's Michael Carrick. He still knows many players who played under his leadership, so he still has valuable internal information."
It should be noted that Carrick briefly led Manchester United when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left the club in November 2021.
