Farhad Veliyev: "Qarabag" fought valiantly against "Newcastle" away, but individual mistakes led to a big score in Baku

"Qarabag" fought valiantly in the return match against "Newcastle" in the UEFA Champions League play-off round.

This was stated by Farhad Veliyev, the former goalkeeper of the Azerbaijani national team and "Qarabag", in an interview with "Report".

He noted that "Newcastle" had decided the stage in the first match in Baku:

"The advantage was on the side of "Newcastle". When this pairing was announced, I rated their chances at 70 to 30 in favor of the opponent. That's what happened, they secured the next stage by winning with a big score in the first game in Baku. But the return match was more interesting. "Qarabag" fought head-to-head with the opponent away. Although they lost in the end, they showed a worthy game".

The expert attributed the reasons for the big score in the first game to individual mistakes:

"Qarabag" goes to every match to show their game and win results, they don't play under pressure. In the match in Baku, "Qarabag" made serious individual mistakes, which resulted in a big score. As for the game in England, I don't think "Newcastle" played at full strength. They took the match seriously in front of their fans and wanted to increase their advantage with the two early goals they scored and win with a big score".

It should be noted that "Qarabag" lost to "Newcastle" (England) in the UEFA Champions League play-off stage based on the results of two games (1:6, 2:3) and stopped the fight.
