Former head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, Fernando Santos, was given enough time.
This was stated to "Report" by the former goalkeeper of the Azerbaijani national team and "Qarabagh", Farhad Veliyev.
He spoke about the dismissal of Fernando Santos from the post of head coach of the team:
"The successes of Fernando Santos with the Portuguese national team were known to all of us. AFFA made the right decision in this direction and invited him to the team. But over time, we saw that the specialist could not produce results with the Azerbaijani national team and had difficulty demonstrating his playing style. He was given enough chances. It is a decision made in place after a big defeat against Iceland away. I think that over time the team will recover. God willing, new decisions will be beneficial for our national team."
It should be noted that Fernando Santos was appointed head coach of the Azerbaijani national team in June last year. The contract with the Portuguese specialist was mutually terminated today.
