Former Russia national team coach Fabio Capello has criticised Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni for simulating in the Serie A match against Juventus in the 25th round.
Idman.Biz reports that the match, which took place on February 14, ended with Inter's 3-2 victory.
"An international player and a key figure in the Italian national team should not behave like this, most importantly, he should not conduct himself in this way. Seeing Bastoni deceive the referee with a clear simulation was unpleasant for all fans, especially since he had already been warned and therefore risked a second yellow card.
I know (Cristian) Chivu very well, he played under my leadership at Roma, but his post-match comments disappointed me. The coach was not consistent in his words and as a result justified what happened. But his actions speak louder than words: Chivu replaced Bastoni because he knew he would be in danger if he stayed on the field. I was expecting a completely different tone, especially after the victory," Football Italia quoted Capello as saying.
In that match, Juventus played with ten men from the 42nd minute. Defender Pierre Kalulu received a second yellow card for a foul against Bastoni. However, replays showed that the Inter defender had simulated the foul. At halftime, Inter head coach Cristian Chivu replaced Bastoni.
