Renowned Italian expert Fabio Capello has revealed the names of those responsible for his compatriots' failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Sport24.az reports that he made a statement to "Football Italia":
"No one wants to resign because of the failure, which is the most disturbing thing. The person who should take responsibility is the president of the federation and those around him. This is not only about the results, but also about the structure of the country. Italy must start everything from scratch. We need to bring experts together, analyze what happened and start rebuilding the infrastructure. No one should look for excuses for what happened. There is no justification for failure. I believe this will be the beginning of a real renewal."
It should be noted that the Italians lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina (1-1, 1-4 on penalties) in the final play-off match of Path A to qualify for the World Cup.
