"What pleased me the most was the match against Neftchi, where our team showed true unity and fighting spirit, fighting until the final whistle and achieving a positive result."
This was stated by Imishli's Ghanaian midfielder Ezekiel Morgan in an interview with futbolinfo.az.
We present this interview.
– "Imishli" finished the first half of the championship in ninth place. How do you generally assess the team's performance in 16 rounds?
– Finishing the first half of the championship in ninth place is a real indicator of our game in 16 rounds. There were moments during the season when we showed very good football and revealed our potential. At the same time, we lost points in matches where we could have performed better. We are not completely satisfied, but we also understand that we have formed a solid foundation on which to build for the second half.
– What were the games that you were most happy and sad about during the 16 rounds?
– What pleased me the most was the match against Neftchi, where our team showed true unity and fighting spirit, fighting until the final whistle and achieving a positive result. The most disappointing game was the match against Shamakhi, where we could not score points due to minor mistakes. Such defeats hurt more.
– How would you comment on your individual performance before the winter break? Were you completely satisfied with your performance?
– I can say that it was not bad overall, but I am not completely satisfied. I think I can be of more benefit to the team and have a greater impact in decisive moments. My goal is to improve my level even more in the second half of the season.
– What should we expect from "Imishli" in the second half of the league? Will the goal be to maintain your current position, or will you play to climb higher in the standings?
– Our goal is not just to maintain our current position. We believe that we can climb higher in the standings. To do this, we need to increase stability and ensure that the whole team is healthy and attentive.
– What are your personal goals for 2026? Are you satisfied with everything in "Imishli", or are you aiming to move to a stronger club soon?
– My personal goals for 2026 are to continue to develop as a football player, stay healthy and perform at a high level throughout the season. At the moment, my whole goal is to help the team and achieve the goals set. Every football player dreams of moving to a stronger club one day, but it depends on performance and timing. My main priority right now is to do my best for my team.
– "Karvan-Yevlax", which you wore last season, is currently in last place in the Premier League. Would the team's relegation disappoint you?
– Playing for "Karvan-Yevlax" last season was an important stage in my career. Therefore, it naturally disappoints me that they are currently experiencing difficulties. I have great respect for the club and the people there. Relegation is a painful process for everyone, and I hope they can recover and come back stronger.
