The host countries may be left out of the final stage of the European Championship to be held in 2028. Sport24.az reports that the hosts will also participate in the qualifying stage matches.
The decision was made at the UEFA meeting in Bilbao.
To qualify for Euro 2028, national teams will compete in 12 groups. Each group will consist of 4 or 5 teams.
Group leaders and the best 8 runners-up will advance directly to the final stage. The other 4 tickets will be determined after the play-off matches.
It should be noted that England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland will host Euro 2028.
