Erling Haaland Becomes First Player in 48 Years to Score a Penta-trick in World Cup Qualifiers

Erling Haaland scored 5 goals in the match against Moldova (11:1) in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers. Sport24.az reports with reference to the FIFA press service that this is the first penta-trick in World Cup qualifying matches since 1977.

48 years ago, Hans Krankl scored 5 goals in the Austria-Malta match.

Note that 25-year-old Haaland has scored 48 goals in 45 matches for the Norwegian national team, five of which were hat-tricks. He is also the first Norwegian to score four or more goals in a high-level international match this century.
